WayRay develops innovative holographic AR HUDs for transportation based on holographic optics, laser projectors and self-developed AR rendering engine.
I am working at WayRay as the Lead AR UI/UX designer. For a long time my personal role was to design Navigation, ADAS and Infotainment features to unleash the potential of the system. Now I lead a team of designers whose main task is to turn visual concepts into working prototypes and support final implementation in the product in close cooperation with software teams.
The video below is taken from our test vehicle and has no computer graphics in it. Every feature is working realtime on real data.
AR navigation
Augmented reality navigation aims to guide the driver through the planned route in the most natural way.
Features
On road AR navigation — lightningh-like lines on the road showing the planned route
Static AR pointers — arrows that follow the sides of the route and are visible on the turns
Finish point — the destination point of the planned route
ADAS
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems already existing in the car or new ones could be visualized through the WayRay AR HUD to be even more effective.
Features
Headway monitoring — highlights the vehicles in front and warns if you are too close to another car for current speed
Lane departure warning — highlights the lane markings if you are about to leave your lane without using your blinker
Lane keeping — visualizes the lane marking detection in lane keeping mode
Pedestrian warning — detects and highlights the pedestrians on the crosswalks
Infotainment
